This bounce back in business is not pretty and some debate goes with it's inclusion in the Hall of Fame. The Hugo Boss brand is inducted into the Hall of Fame. Hugo Boss is remembered for his links to Nazism. He later apologised and it was accepted as a contrite apology and forgiven. But Hugo Boss died in 1948 and it was the brand that became the Bouncepreneur. Also Boss himself had his own bounce back in business showing that continued dialogue with creditors although painful sometimes pays off.
After the war in 1946, Hugo Boss was stripped of ability to run a business, and fined more than $70,000. However, Boss appealed, many believing he was genuinely sorry for his part in National Socialism and he was eventually re-classified as a ‘follower’, a lesser category, which meant that he was not regarded as an active promoter of National Socialism. This in itself was unusual at the time.
Hugo Boss died in 1948, but his business survived. A strange bounce back in business indeed. In 2011, the company honourably issued a statement of "profound regret to those who suffered harm or hardship at the factory run by Hugo Boss under National Socialist rule."
